The foremost Scottish snare teacher in the Puget Sound area, Steve has taught snare technique for 20 years.
In 2006 he coached the Keith Highlanders' snare line to competition at the World Pipe Band Championships and then taught and led the Keith's snares in their inaugural Grade III season in 2007.
He has been the Drum Director for the NorthWest Junior Pipe Band since 2006, including preparing them to compete at the World Championships in Scotland in 2008 where they finished 5th in the world in the Novice Juvenile division. His NWJPB drummers compete in solo competition at nearly all the NorthWest Highland games, winning and placing in Grade II through Grade V competition with many aggregate first places, including the season's grand aggregate award in Grade IV for the 2009 season. NWJPB won 8 straight Grade IV competitions in 2009, in part due to the excellence of the snare corps and won in class in both drum salute competitions they entered.
