Steve is the drum director of the NorthWest Junior Pipe Band, one of the top 5 novice youth pipe bands in the world.
Over 40 pipers and drummers contribute to a Grade V band and a Grade IV band. Steve's teaching program for snare drummers takes beginners and turns them into accomplished competetive musicians.
Competing in the Novice Juvenile Division of the World Pipe Band Championships in Glasgow, Scotland in August 2008, the band won the fifth place trophy. In other competitions in Scotland they twice placed 1st over serious Scottish and international bagpipe bands. They were the first Washington State youth pipe band to compete in the Worlds and the only US representative in the Juvenile classes.
Their busy schedule of appearances have included Gung Haggis Fat Choy, Folklife Festival, a Mariners game, St Patrick's day parades.
