Steve Roy Jazz
is a trio ensemble anchored by Steve's unusual rhythms where
flamenco-derived percussion plays a starring role in a repertiore of
contemporary jazz and Latin music. Steve's trios consist of
combinations of guitar, saxophone, keyboard and bass with a variety of
drum sounds.
One of Steve's favorite performing groups was his band "Skin Groove".
Here are two clips from one of their songs. Note the weird time
signature in the first clip and the great snare groove in the second.
Steve plays hand percussion on two of "the pulses" CDs. The pulses are a rock trio: Jesse Steichen, Dave Ramm, plus artist/ musician Shannon Mcconnell. Here is "ghost town" from "gather round and destroy all our records".
Steve is the drummer in Mark Gabriel's inspirational rock album, "Out of the Dark". Here are parts of "To Live or Die" and a lovely groove from "Salvation".
